Action:

1) Save the document in .RTF (Rich Text Format):

a) Open the corrupted document.
b) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'.
c) Select 'Rich Text format (*.rtf)' from the 'Save As Type' drop-down list box.
d) Click 'Save'.
e) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close'.

2) Re-open the .RTF file:

a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open'.
b) Select the document with the .RTF extension to open.
c) Click 'Open'.

3) Save the open .RTF document as a Word document (.DOC):

a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'.
b) Select 'Word Document (*.doc)' from the 'Save As Type' drop-down list box.
c) Click 'Save'.

4) Re-open the .DOC file:

a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open'.
b) Select the document with the .DOC extension to open.
c) Click 'Open'.
